This is the first edit of my music video that I got feedback on.

Hot Desking

This is the feedback I got from the hot desking exercise where we went around the class and watched each other's music videos and answered their questions.

With this feedback I know I need to make the storyline of the music video more clear which I will do by finishing the filming which shows Katie being stressed in everyday life and then dreaming about being free with her friends. The shakiness and quality of the footage doesn't seem to be a problem so I'm not going to re-film anything from mousehold. Over the next week I'm going to re-film Katie asleep and also film Katie working at her desk getting stressed with work.

The weather for this Sunday looks like it will be perfect for filming. It will be a lot colder so I'll have to ask the actors to wear warmer clothes but I think it'll add to the atmosphere of the music video.

Editing - slowing down and reversing a clip

I started editing the footage I filmed of Katie sleeping. I'm happy with the clip at the end of the video when she wakes up but the clip at the start where she's sleeping and the camera moves closer to her didn't work very well because it's too short. I reversed this clip as it was originally one where she wakes up but I don't like the rest of the footage I filmed of her sleeping. I also slowed it down slightly to try and make it longer but it still doesn't look very good as it won't play smoothly and has started jumping. I want this shot to start off further away from her to emphasise the fact she's asleep in bed. I only want this clip to be a few seconds longer so it doesn't go on for an unnecessary amount of time.

Communication With Actors - Next filming date

The remaining scenes for my music video will be filmed next Sunday on the 4th of December as that's the next time everyone's available to film.

As the weather is going to be bad on Sunday, I've had to cancel the filming outside and just film the sleeping scenes at Katie's house so I've had to do separate call sheets for each settings.

Weather Check for New Date 2

The weather has now changed for this Sunday and it's supposed to rain all day. This means I'm going to have to cancel the filming that will happen outdoors and just film the sleeping scenes this week. The scenes that happen outside will be filmed next Sunday.

I looked at the weather for the new day of shooting to find out when the sun will set and whether it will be dry or not on that day. The sun will set at 3:54pm and as of right now, the weather looks like it will be dry.

Communication with actors - date change

  

Katie is now unable to film this Sunday because of work so I've had to push the filming date back a week. Everyone else is available for next week so hopefully Katie won't be asked to work again next week. Because of this I've had to edit the date on my call sheet. The times of shooting will probably change too as the sun will set earlier in a weeks time.

Weather Check

I searched the weather for the day of shooting so I know when the sun will set and whether it will be raining or not. Right now, it looks as though the weather will be perfect for shooting. It isn't supposed to rain and it's not going to be too cold for me and the actors. This is also useful to know so I can know definitely how I want the actors to dress and now I can tell them about this. I'm also going to keep checking the weather every day to make sure it doesn't change.

Communication With Actors

I created a group chat to communicate with Ayeasha, Jameen and Katie so I can let them know when I want to film and so I can find out when everyone's free at the same time. I originally wanted to film The weekend of the 5th & 6th of November but because Jameen is busy that day, we decided on Sunday the 13th as everyone is free that day. I'll also use this group chat to tell them what I want them to wear and what time I want them all to be at the location.

Moodboard

Indie mv moodboard by emily-a-l featuring a denim miniskirt

This is my moodboard for the fashion I want Ayeasha, Katie and Jameen to wear in the music video. I want their clothing to match the current season. I also want their clothes to be appropriate for the cold weather. I want them to wear similar kinds of clothes to show they're all together in a group. This mood board fits with the time of year and it also would represent the genre of indie well considering the location in which the music video will be filmed and the atmosphere of the music. I added some items of clothing that are currently trendy as the song is indie-pop so I wanted to represent both genres together.

 I created a questionnaire using surveymonkey.com to gather information from my target audience. I wanted to find out the demographics of the audience. I asked them questions I thought would be interesting and useful to find out the answers to.

 

I posted the questionnaire on twitter and tumblr and asked people to retweet/reblog in order for more people to see it and fill it out.

Test Video

I uploaded a video to youtube with the song to make sure there would be no copyright issues and after a day there was a notice on my video saying that the claimant of the copyrighted content is allowing me to use their content.

Transition Music Video

While making this music video I learnt and developed many skills. I learnt how to work in a group to plan a lip sync music video. This involved using the lyrics to help us generate ideas and create a storyboard. I also learnt how to use the camera equipment effectively to get the kinds of shots we wanted to use. Once everything was filmed I then began to use Adobe Premiere Pro CC to edit the video. While using this programme I learnt how to cut clips to the length I wanted, mute the sound from those clips so it couldn't be heard over the music, how to add text and sync the video to the video. I think it's important to remember to film twice as much footage as I think I need next time because we ran out of footage while editing this music video which is very clear when you watch it.
